It Is True, I Wasn't There....

So I Finally sat down and watched "You Weren't There: A History Of Chicago Punk" and I must say that I was impressed. It was pretty sweet to see some Strike Under and Articles Of Faith footage. I was also glad that they split the Naked Raygun stuff into 2 parts as I always felt their were 2 eras to that band. I also just finished "MC5: A True Testimonial" which was also a pretty interesting documentary. I enjoyed watching the old concert footage and seeing how much one band could change music. The music that I love and enjoy would not have been possible with out the MC5 or the Stooges or even the Dolls.

Finally!

So I finally got rid of all of my CDs. A task that has taken me months to prepare for. I decided to take a day of work and to haul my collection of CDs downtown to trade them in at a record store. So after sitting in traffic for over an hour I finally arrive and am hauling 600+ CDs through the streets on a dolly. So I drop them off and am wandering around the city, after about 3 hours I go back and  they are about half way through the first of five boxes. So I just went home. They called about 4 hours later to tell me that they had finished and what my total was. I surprisingly did much better than I thought I would. Considering how much I had actually put into this "collection" I was excited to actually get something back. My next option was to make coasters out of them.

A Bit Of The Same Ol', Same Ol'

Today was day 2 of the mandatory overtime and I am already having a hard time making it through. I don't know why but when that extra 1/2 hour is thrown in, i struggle to stay awake. I went for a few walks around the parking lot and that seemed to help wake me up some.

When I got home I found that I had a decent amount of time to waste. I decided to spend the afternoon scanning record sleeves and fliers. Maybe one of these days I will have to start parting with some of these records. I am running out of room for them and i have already taken a bunch over to my parents house.

This about sums up my day. When it is in writing I realize that I don't do much with my days. oh well, maybe the weekend will bring new adventures.

Pop Punk And Overtime

Today was the first day of a new work week and we are currently in a mandatory overtime phase. I don't know when this one will be over, the last one lasted about 6 months. so, to honor this mandatory overtime, I celebrated with a little old school Chicago pop punk. I spent most of my day listening to The Mushuganas, who happen to be one of my favorite bands of this era. If anyone has a copy of their demo tape (I used to have one but it was lost somewhere along the way) or just something I haven't heard, then please get in touch. Maybe I will dig out some old flyers or something from some of their shows.  So I guess that is all I have for today.

So it begins..

So I am new to this whole thing and don't really know where to even begin or what to even write about. I am in my 30's and married and kinda thought this would be something fun to do to keep me out of trouble. I am not an English major and barely have a grasp on the language, so please ignore my spelling and punctuation. I guess that is all I have for now. Maybe someone out there will read this. Thanks!
