What Is Steampunk?

No seriously, what the fuck is steampunk? I believe I know what steam is, and I have a pretty good understanding of punk, but when those 2 words appear together it makes little to no sense to me. I look it up online and find pictures of people who dress like they were extras in that really shitty Will Smith movie, I think it is called Wild West or something. What do people do when they dress up like this? Are they robbing trains or stage coaches or something else equally as dumb? Can anyone explain this phenomenon to me? These wacky kids and their insane subcultures confuse me.

There Goes The Neighborhood

So I have been on a huge Chronic Sick kick lately. If you don't know who that is, they are/were a hardcore/punk band from New Jersey. They released 2 eps on Mutha records in the early 80's and they are both scorchers. Amazing musicianship, amazingly catchy songs, hooks galore, these records have it all. Not every song is a winner, but even the bad ones are better than a lot of stuff that came out at that time. Some people are put off by the use of swastikas and the lyrical content (subjects range from racism and rape to having VD), but relax, it is all in jest. You can easily find copies of these 2 records online for download and I would highly recommend that you do. They also reissued their Cutest Band In Hardcore ep recently, and I believe there is another record or 2 out there, otherwise, the originals can fetch up to $1,500 on ebay.

What The Eff?

So I am gonna skip around some today, I finally saw that Anneliese movie. Holy shit what a waste of time and money! They promote this movie as legit, I had my doubts, but decided to check it out anyways. I should of known that it would be terrible because it was made by the same company that made all of those Piranha Vs. Mega-Crocodile movies. So yeah, they claim that the movie is put together from tapes that were "discovered" that show the actual exorcism. What you get instead is an hour and a half of total shit, well maybe an hour and 20 minutes of total shit, they did put a few actual audio clips in there. The whole movie was in English (even though this took place in Germany) and at one point they even make a joke of it when the supposed possessed girl says that she doesn't know English. They completely changed the story and made it about the girl killing people, she never killed anyone! There is plenty of information online about all of this, and a few pictures too. Despite this, they changed the whole story and the girl looked nothing like the real girl! Don't waste your time or money on this garbage. If you really want to know about the story watch that Exorcism of Emily Rose movie, it is based on this story and follows a lot more closely to the real thing.

I'm Still Here...

So I have been watching a few movies as of late and thought I would share my thoughts on some of them. The wife and I just watched I'm Still Here with Joaquin Phoenix. I had actually just heard of this movie a few weeks ago, I am not always up on the new things going on in the entertainment industry. I knew going into this one, that it was a complete hoax. Despite knowing that, it comes across as extremely believable. It was surprisingly just like watching all of this shit with Charlie Sheen. Is it just me or is anyone else kinda of tired of hearing about all of that? So back to the movie... Dude is an amazing actor, with being able to pull off a breakdown and what not. It did have more dudes junk flapping around than Elton John's birthday party, but don't let that scare you off. The whole basis of the movie is that Joaquin has kind of lost it and decided that he is going to be a hip-hop artist. Apparently this mockumentary was supposed to be released as reality, but word was leaked to the press about it being a farce. Either way, I would suggest seeing this movie.

Sorry, I am a tad scatterbrained this evening. Stuff always sounds so much better in my head than it does when it is actually typed out. Writing is not one of my strong points. Nor is spelling, or punctuation. Sleeping and eating, now those are two areas that I excel in.

I did also see Exit Through The Gift Shop, so I will be writing about that soon. I am also wanting to see this Anneliese: The Exorcist Tapes movie. If anyone has seen it, please let me know if it is worth it. I may also be writing some more stuff about music in the near future. I have been keeping myself pretty busy lately, so I will put some of that stuff on here.
